Open House Ceremonies for the Brookins Funeral Home were held on November 8, 1970, under the direction of Howard B. Brookins, Sr., Funeral Director.

“To all you beautiful people who are seated here this afternoon, I kneel in honor, in humble acknowledgement, and in sincere appreciation …

For me, my entire family, friends, and neighbors, this is not a moment for exaltation nor for courageous postulations. Rather, this is a moment of wonderment, of humility, and of dedication…

I stand in awe of what divine guidance has done for me and for each one of them, The years have been brief that pan from the days of my youth- when I dreamed of just such a today as this. The months have been long and the toil hard, and there have been many sleepless nights. But now, as I reflect upon time and events in my life, I see no goal I have gained, no accomplishment I have earned, and no path I have carefully plodded and followed. For indeed, I am less than the least among us. I see only a labyrinth through which I have guided by some omnipotent hand. I see only sacrifice to be made and a service to be performed as a small part of some great design.”
