Obituary for William English Dennis III

William English Dennis, Jr. was born June 20, 1960 to Dolores and William Dennis, Sr. In Chicago, IL. Both parents preceded Billy in death.
As a child, Billy was mild-mannered. Let’s just lovingly say he was the “best behaved” of Ms. Anna Dennis’ 19 precocious grandchildren!
Billy was a smart and engaging hobbyist with many passions. To name a few, he practiced magic in his youth. A friend fondly recalled Billy was a proud junior member of the Society of American Magicians. He loved old movies and tv shows; and some of his favorite actors included Sydney Portier, James Cagney, and Marlon Brando. He particularly enjoyed matinees when his Saturdays or Sundays were free. Billy also had a love for baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
In 1978 Bill joined the Service Employee International Union 101 and began his career as beer vendor selling at all of Chicago’s main sports centers; Chicago Stadium now called the United Center, Soldier Stadium, and Comiskey Park now known as Guarantee Rate Field, and his beloved Wrigley Field where he kept all the fans in left field and behind home base happy with ice cold beer pours during the innings. Billy loved his job at the ballpark and earned the distinction of All Star Vendor. He mastered the famed “double pour” - holding two cups in one hand to pour two beers simultaneously! Beloved and distinguished in ball park concessions, Billy was recognized in a 2007 Chicago Tribune article called “Cold Beer Here!” as well the Reader and
A Lindblom Technical High School Eagle, William earned degrees in biology and psychology from Chicago State University. At the time of his passing, Billy worked as adjunct mathematics professor at Chicago City Colleges’ Malcom X and Kennedy-King campuses.
Physical fitness was a lifelong pursuit for Billy. He enjoyed working out and kept his body in good health. Billy would give a light-hearted ribbing to friends who overindulged in fried foods.
A godly man, Billy attended church and bible study at The Moody Church and was a dedicated student in the equipping ministry. He was devoted to his church family and had the amazing opportunity to teach a couple of classes.
Billy leaves to mourn sisters Deanna Dennis and Joy Leahy; special cousin/best friend Carl Dennis; 15 first-cousins; church family; his SEIU family and many more.
