Obituary for Paul Ollie Turner

Paul Ollie Turner was born to the union of Jessie Turner and Rosia Lee Marshall on October 5, 1934 in Memphis Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Rosia Lee, brothers Elijah and Lewis, daughter Yolanda and sister Ludia. Paul leaves behind his wife Betty, brother Dr. Edward Turner, two sons Albert Cruse II and Donald Cruse, two daughters Monique Turner - Johnson and Yvonne Turner – Lawler, granddaughter Camelia Cruse, grandsons Albert Cruse III, Donnell Cruse, Elton Lawler, Jr. and Christopher Lawler; and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, cousins, family and friends.

On January 7, 1966 Paul and Betty married, and later moved to the southwest side of Chicago. Paul dedicated his life to his wife and children. Outdoor activities and sports were an enjoyable part of Paul’s life; he would often take his family fishing, bowling, to drive-in movies and play board games. Sports, particularly football was Paul’s favorite. Paul listened to WBEZ jazz radio during the 70’s and 80’s snapping his fingers to music of jazz greats like Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Dexter Gordan. Spring time would bring a smile to Paul’s face, for he began planting vegetables for his in-ground garden.
