Obituary for Julia Antoinette Jenkins

Julia Antoinette Jenkins

Julia “Sister” Antoinette Jenkins was born November 18, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to the late George and Julia Crowder. She was the second of four children.

Sister was educated in the Chicago Public School system and thereafter attended Philips High School where she graduated at the early age of 15. Her love for Christ began in the Catholic church at Holy Angels Parish on Chicago’s south side.

Julia started working at an early age. She also worked for the State of Illinois in the accounts payable department until she retired.

Sister met and married Samuel Jenkins (Pine Bluff, Arkansas). To this union two children, Marvelle and Marvella were born.

Julia was also known as “Gi-Gi” by her grandchildren. She loved her family, was a hard worker and most of all she dedicated her life around her family, which she loved and cherished. She embraced every moment with her grandchildren. She had a very warm and gentle personality - she always made you feel welcomed.

Proceeding her in death were her eldest brother Albert “Bert” Crowder and baby sister, Mildred (Scottie) Greenwood.

Sister is survived by: her grandchildren, Brian “Dubuckle” Jenkins, LaToya “Teenie”, Tiffini “Brewster”, and Marvell Jones; great-grandchildren, Ivana “Pooh”, Kiana “Buddah Doll” McGuire, Brandi “Bakka” Horne; Danny Horne Jr., David King Jr., Kiera “President” Gould, Julia “Bean”, and Ayla; great-great grandchildren, Sydai “Sha-Sha” Howard, Naketa Dotson, Kyree Andrews, Decoyea Frazer Jr; brother, Kenneth “Bus Anthony” (Doris) Crowder; nephew, Tyrone (Marietta); special son-in-law, Ontae Bradford; a host of other relatives and many friends.
