Conoway Evans was born April 23, 1942 to the late William Henry, and Myrtle Morris Evans in Drew, MS. He was the oldest of three children. In 1945 along with his parents, Conoway and his siblings relocated to Chicago, IL.

Conoway was educated in the public schools of Chicago. He attended Hendricks grammar school and Dunbar Trade School. In 1960 Conoway enlisted in the United States Army. While serving in the Army, Conoway became a Marksman and a 2d Class Gunner and in 1963 received an honorable discharge. After his discharge, Conoway worked at U.S Steel as an electrical trainee and later at Illinois Bell. Conoway also worked at Amtrak Rail Road as an electrical technician and remained there until he retired in 2004. In 2007 Conoway spent time with his sister Blondell in Pensacola, FL. While in Pensacola he confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Heirs of the Kingdom Church International under the leadership of Pastor Vincent Warren.

Conoway had many interests, including his love for music, golf, and the latest fashions. He was a computer whiz and loved to have all of the newest gadgets. Conoway deejayed for many organizations in the Washington D.C. area where he was known as “The Rugman”. When he moved into the Lincoln Perry Senior Apartments in Chicago, he became a popular deejay and made many friends. He deejayed many of the Chicago family parties and cookouts. Conoway was an avid golfer and if you were looking for him, you could possibly find him on a nearby golf course. During our family reunions Conoway loved to compete with his uncle “Cat” and cousin Roger. Conoway was also very stylish and prided himself on being the best dressed in the room.

On March 5, 2020 at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, after many health complications, God called Conoway to eternal rest.
