Obituary for Christina Willis

The Life, Love and Legacy of
Evangelist Christina Willis

Christina (Scott) Willis was born March 13, 1962, to the union of Elmer and Annie Mae (Scott) Gillespie, both who proceeded her in death. She was the third of five children.

Christina accepted Christ at an early age while attending Kendrick Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. In June of 1976, she graduated from Alfred D. Kohn Elementary School and matriculated through John Marshall Harlan High School. On August 5, 1991, she married the love of her life, Larry D. Willis, and to this union they bore Zachary Isaiah and Miracle Ju-Ton.

Christina was talented and gifted in many areas. She definitely had a “gift of gab” and was vocal and passionate about many things. In her profession as a Property Manager, she honed her skills by attending numerous trainings and became an expert as a Certified Manager of Occupancy (CMO); a Licensed Real Estate Leasing Agent and a National Center for Housing Management Tax Specialist and Certified Manager of Housing. She is aptly listed with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

While she excelled in her professional endeavors, her passion was truly her calling to the Gospel Ministry of Jesus Christ. We all know Evangelist Willis could “pray the horns off a billy goat and preach like no body’s business!” As a family, we were peacock proud of her and would request her to preach or speak at many engagements. She was Licensed as an Evangelist at her beloved church, Abundant Life Missionary Baptist Church, where she joined in 1988. Evangelist Willis was the current Director of the Mission Department at Abundant Life MBC, and the Overseer of the Women’s Department. She served as the First Vice- President of the Antioch Baptist District Association – Women’s Department, for 4 years; Second Vice-President; and President for a short stint.

Christina had a benevolent spirit. Service was her middle name. She fed the hungry, ministered to any and everyone, and preached at many Prayer Breakfasts. We know that the Angels in heaven rejoiced when our Lord summoned her home on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Take your rest my beloved.
Good night, we’ll see you in the morning.

Christina’s fond and loving memories will forever be cherished by: her two children, Zachary Isaiah Willis, and Miracle Ju-Ton (Johnathon) Willis-Mincy; four grandchildren, Micah, Martavious, Cameron, and Mia; brother, Darren (Nancy) Cooper of Rockville, MD; sisters, Beverly (Kevin) Henderson, Trina (Ty) Sutton of Fredericksburg, VA, and Karen (Marvin) Wilson; five nieces; two nephews; and an abundance of relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
