Bible Study

7PM on Thursdays (October 26, November 2, November 9, November 16)

Walking with Nouwen and Thurman

We are partnering with Trinity United Church of Christ Center for African Biblical Studies, every Thursday, starting October 26th through November 16, 2017, promptly starting at 7:00 pm. We will welcome the Rev. Dr. Norval I Brown for a biblical study titled, "Walking with Nouwen and Thurman".
Rev. Brown will lead the class in conversations of Nouwen and Thurman, two of the spiritual giants of the 20th century who continue to set footprints for the 21st century Church. Nouwen was a Catholic priest, author, and teacher. In the early 1980s, he lived with the poor in Peru. In 1985, he was called to join L’Arche in Trosly, France, the first of over 100 communities founded by Jean Vanier where people with developmental disabilities lived with assistants. A year later Nouwen came to make his home at L’Arche Daybreak near Toronto, Canada. As it was for Thurman, Nouwen’s spirituality led him to speak for and work with the marginalized people of the world. Join us as we lay the spiritual underpinnings of these two alongside each other.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursdays through November 16th at 7:00 pm at Brookins, 9315 South Ashland Ave. Chicago, Illinois. Come celebrate life with us.
